Homemade Lasagna

Making Lasagna: A Sunday Tradition

Here’s another of my cooking videos, the third in a series, where we’ve already covered making meatballs and sauce (or gravy). Now, it’s time to bring everything together with lasagna. Once you have the meatballs and sauce prepared, assembling the lasagna is a breeze. There’s nothing more satisfying than enjoying a piece of lasagna for Sunday dinner.

When I was growing up in East Harlem, we had dinner at 3:00 PM. In fact, most Italians in my neighborhood ate between 2 and 4 PM. These days, we’ve shifted to a more American dinner time of 6:00 PM. Back then, Italians were accustomed to eating their meals early and then taking a siesta. Between the hearty meal and the homemade wine, we were always ready for a nap.

Why not try making all three recipes—meatballs, sauce, and lasagna—and enjoy a traditional Sunday afternoon meal, Italian style?
